Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our dedicated Respiratory Advanced Practitioner Team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will be one of two enthusiastic tACPs in Respiratory, who will enter a training post at Band 7, to progress to secure a Band 8A Advanced Clinical Practitioner post. In addition to our team, we have an excellent respiratory workforce that will closely work with you in providing a patient-centred service.

The role of the tACP involves a programme of academic, and work-place based education. The post holder will be expected and supported to complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practitioner at our partnered university.

As either an experienced nurse or allied healthcare professional, the post holder will be responsible of care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating complex cases either on the wards or outpatient settings. You must be able to communicate effectively and be committed to making a difference both personally and professionally through on-going continuing professional development. You will be joining a team that pro-actively seeks quality Improvement which supports effective, safe, and responsive care through well-led leadership.

Main duties of the job

THE UNIVERSITY COURSE WILL COMMENCE IN SEPTEMBER 2023

The successful candidate will be supported to complete the MSc Advanced Practice programme over 2 years with guidance and help from our medical colleagues. You will have a dedicated medical mentor and in house training to support you to achieve your MSc along with support and encouragement from the Clinical Matron of the relevant speciality.You will be expected to influence all related aspects of care and management of patients and deliver individualised and personalised direct patient care. You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of healthcare professionals and be enthusiastic and committed to making a difference, and a commitment to improving practice through ongoing personal and professional development. You will become responsible for delivering high standards of care using advanced autonomous clinical skills, offering support to both our nursing and junior medical colleagues.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience in the speciality, ideally 3 years
  • Clinical credibility - regarded as a successful clinician by peers or supervisors
  • Experience of managing own case load, including the assessment of patients, ordering diagnostics
  • Understanding of the role of research and development activities upon Clinical Effectiveness
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of the current issues affecting NHS services including Clinical Governance and the NHS Plan
  • Leadership in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking
  • Development of protocols and clinical guidelines


Desirable

  • Teaching and presenting lectures to staff
  • Experience in completing and presenting research
