Experience ST7+ (working towards certificate of completion of training CCT in neurology or equivalent)
We are pleased to invite applicants for this rare opportunity to apply for a fixed term post within Autonomics. The successful applicant will support the nationally and internationally recognized Autonomic Unit based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Main duties of the job
This post is based within the Autonomic department at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) which is the largest division within the Specialist Hospitals Board. The NHNN is an internationally renowned hospital for clinical practice and world-class clinical research in neurosciences. It is also closely associated with the Institute of Neurology (ION). Together, the NHNN and ION are regarded as the premier neurosciences centre in the UK. In addition to Neurology and Neurosurgery, the NHNN provides comprehensive services in Neuro-rehabilitation, Neuro-critical care and Neuropsychiatry. The NHNN receives secondary, tertiary and quaternary referrals from across the UK and internationally.
About us
The Autonomic Unit has pioneered the translation of autonomic research into clinical practice in the UK and worldwide, and is closely involved in national, European and international autonomic and neurological societies, and in International Consensus Groups and Task Forces providing guidelines and policy. Clinical Autonomic Scientists work along with the clinicians, to ensure that the clinical service is underpinned by a strong investigation and evidence base. They have devised and implemented new diagnostic tests for central and peripheral autonomic function, and novel treatments. They have pioneered novel, mainly non-invasive techniques for the investigation of pathophysiological mechanisms in various autonomic disorders.
