Job summary
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an acute trust in central London and the Liver Unit is nationally and internationally renowned for their innovative and developmental approach to high quality care delivery always looking for opportunities to work in different ways to improve the Hepatology patient experience, including nurse led clinics, hepatology and community services and working in partnership with the North west London Hepatology Network.
We are currently recruiting to the Lead Nurse position where you will provide leadership and directly manage the Liver Unit team. The includes the liver day unit that provides specialised hepatology services such as nurse-led venesection, day case liver biopsy and paracentesis and a large Fibroscan service. This post holder will also manage: Hepatitis Nurse Specialists who undertake the nurse-led hepatitis clinics; liver research nurses and an Alcohol liaison nurse who is specialised in liver disease
We are looking for individual with an ability to design and deliver successful new ways of working with a focus on patient quality. Our ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of liver disease and skills to be able to support patients throughout their care pathway journey, as well as lead our experienced nursing team. They will help to develop the Liver unit in order to provide and maintain best nursing care.
Main duties of the job
The Lead Nurse will work as part of the Hepatology clinical team and will hold professional responsibility for the Liver Unit in the Trust. The Post holder will provide professional leadership and clinical role in the Liver Unit. The Lead nurse will provide clear focus for clinical leadership, providing a highly visible and authoritative presence, in order to facilitate the provision of high quality care. Post holder will support the Hepatology and Directorate team in the delivery of the high quality patient focused care which contributes to the patient's overall experience. The post holder will act as an autonomous, accountable advance practitioner leading on the development of the Liver Unit and on development of the nursing led pathways within the Unit. The post holder will work closely and collaborative with the Directorate team in order to support the Trust targets.
