Are you a recently qualified podiatrist or due to qualify in Summer 2023?

West Dorset podiatry is looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 Podiatrist to join our team.

This B5 post will be mainly based in the Dorchester area, however it may also require travel to nearby areas such as Bridport and Weymouth. As a rural area, with a high number of elderly patients, the team also provides a limited number of home visits to housebound patients.

The team in West Dorset provides a range of podiatry services in a community setting. Most of the work focusing on routine and ulcer care for the patients with high risk feet.

This post would particularly suit someone interested in developing their general skills with possibly an interest wound care and complex foot problems. However we also provide basic MSK interventions so an interest MSK would also be useful.

It is a great opportunity live and work in a beautiful part of the country near to the coast.

Main duties of the job

In West Dorset, the service aims to provide short courses of general footcare, basic chairside orthoses solutions and education to patients with a view to resolving foot problems and pain and facilitating and supporting self-care. We have a strong team working ethic to provide prompt and relevant care to patients aiming to respond flexibility to patient needs particular for those who have foot ulceration.

The team you would be joining is small but big hearted. We each work independently as it is a predominantly rural location, but we also work closely together with opportunities for shared clinics, team meetings, group clinical supervision.

At B5 level you are likely to start with more routine clinics working sometimes on your own and sometimes in two chair clinics to develop your skills. As you get experience, the complexity of patients managed will increase but always with access to more senior colleagues for support.

We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset we also offer a generous relocation package of up to 10,000. For further details on relocation expenses please email dhc.careers@nhs.net
