s post is part of the HEE KSS / BSMS Leadership and Education Fellowship (LEF) Programme and is jointly funded by Health Education England working across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex (HEE KSS), Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of our Medical Education team and will carry out various projects/roles to support the education, training, and improved experience of our junior doctors. This is a leadership role with the appointee working alongside the Medical Education Senior Leadership Team to improve local education.

About us

Three days non-clinical (60% full time) for leadership and education fellowship work - leading specified project work and participating in the development programme, including attendance at BSMS for the academic modules, Learning Network attendance and personal study.

The days for module attendance vary, but it is asked that Fridays are one of the non-clinical days, so that all Fellows are available on those days for contact.

Two days a week will be allocated to clinical duties.

Office space will be made available at the Sussex Education Centre on Fellowship days and it is anticipated that Work from Home would be appropriate for part of the week if wanted with negotiation around timings with the SPFT Fellowship Supervisor.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This fellowship appointee will lead on reviewing how this programme has changed and work with the Medical Education Leadership Team on developing a proposal for a revised structure for this programme. This will focus on high-quality regional education using subject experts to provide updates on clinical, educational and leadership matters alongside a programme of training centred on building skills for training grade doctors appropriate to their level of training.

As the programme develops the appointee will work with the MDT to determine how best learning can be integrated, such as with regular pharmacy updates, and how the MDT can be invited to attend and take part in the educational programme to mutual benefit.
