Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the delivery of a key digital priority for the SYB Cancer Alliance, which will implement a single shared record for cancer across the geography. This has been a long term ambition of the Alliance and will make a real difference to both clinical and administrative teams, as well as enhancing communication and information for people affected by cancer in SYB.

Whilst this post is network facing, it will be hosted by Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as the employing organisation. As such, you will be part of a friendly, dynamic local team as well as a valued member of the Cancer Alliance.

Main duties of the job

This is a complex project and one which will involve supporting and co-ordinating project work-streams across multiple acute provider organisations. The successful post-holder will need to demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively across a geographical system. They will also need good technical knowledge to ensure all key considerations are covered, including the clinical safety case, information governance and data sharing needs.

The SYB Cancer Alliance has a varied and robust programme of work, with quality at its heart; and delivers the cancer agenda on behalf of the wider SY Integrated Care Board.

Whilst this post is network facing, it will be hosted by Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as the employing organisation. As such, you will be part of a friendly, dynamic local team as well as a valued member of the Cancer Alliance.

To be eligible for the role, you will need to demonstrate the essential requirements of the job specification; and in exchange will receive supervision and development opportunities aligned to the post.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Programme Management Experience and MSP Foundation and/or Practitioner


Desirable

  • Prince 2 Foundation and/or Practitioner.


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable evidence of system(s) development including design, testing and roll-out
  • Experience of working with multiple sets of health-related data and information systems in health-related organisations including the establishment of system interfaces
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, across organisational boundaries and sectors
  • Experience of managing a complex project or programme of work involving many interdependencies and multiple priorities
  • Experience in managing and mitigating risks and issues
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing a range of reporting and intelligence tools
  • Previous involvement in budget management and working knowledge of financial processes


Knowledge and Awareness

Essential

  • Knowledge of strategic direction and key issues facing the NHS including cancer
  • Specialist knowledge of Cancer Information Systems
  • Extensive knowledge related to the administration and capture of cancer pathways including mandated national cancer related datasets and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrable understanding of clinical safety standards related to development of health IT systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced keyboard skills
  • Knowledge and experience of report writing and presentation
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection
  • Specialist knowledge of Cancer KPIs and the Cancer Waiting Times Dataset

  • Knowledge of ICB priorities including digital landscape
  • VBA Knowledge
  • SSAS, SSRS knowledge
  • Specialist knowledge of Infoflex Cancer Information System
