We are looking for an experienced individual to oversee the daily pathway tracking and associated performance element of the Colchester MDT team.

Based mainly at Colchester hospital and reporting to the Head of Cancer Performance and Strategy, the successful applicant will be part of a large team whose main responsibility is to ensure that every patient referred on a cancer pathway has the best possible experience of care.

Main duties of the job

As the 28 day Faster Diagnosis Standard becomes more recognised for its importance, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the team (made up of bookings staff, pathway trackers and MDT coordinators and MDT managers) are working effectively and efficiently, to ensure that every patient goes through their diagnostic pathway as quickly as possible.

The Cancer Performance and Delivery Manager will also be the main contact between the MDT and Operational teams in regard to unresolved delays, proactive escalation resolution and ensuring that correct actions are in place to minimise any potential delays to the patients care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level or able to demonstrate directly relevant experience.
  • NHS Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued learning / personal development


Desirable

  • Data management


Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in an NHS Operational or Performance Role at band 7 or above
  • Super User with ability to use and produce reports from National Cancer Registration Systems (Somerset)
  • Subject expert level knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times (CWT)
  • Proven success in delivering change and performance with and through management and clinical teams.
  • Experience of managing a large team to deliver improved performance
  • Experience of budget and staff management.
  • Experience of dealing with complex and/or sensitive information and unpredictable situations.


Desirable

  • Knowledge of Careflow or Lorenzo PAS
  • Knowledge of Evolve or Big Hand admin systems
  • Knowledge of Oncology treatments
  • Knowledge of all main diagnostic modalities


Skills

Essential

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to influence, negotiate and persuade
  • Ability to create documents and reports using but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint


Desirable

  • Use of Power BI
  • Experience of Report writing
