Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Administration Manager post based within The Surgical Business Unit.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of administrative and clerical staff within the Surgical Business Unit including secretaries, ward clerks and clerical officers. They will also be responsible for the development and management of Post Graduate Drs within the Business Unit.

In addition they will also be responsible for the development and monitoring of administrative systems across the business unit for accurate activity counting. The successful candidate will also lead on PAS and G2 as well as the development and implementation of other digital systems within the Business unit and wider Organisation.

They willassist the Service Manager with the day to day management and safe delivery of the Administrative Service. Ensuring robust contingency plans are in place to enable safe delivery of service to continue in the event of information technology malfunction.

They will be able to organise and undertake induction and training of new members of staff and regular updates for all staff regarding new policies etc

The post holder will be based at North Tyneside General Hospital, but Trustwide travel will be required. A driving licence is essential for this post.

Job responsibilities

Communication with Consultants, Junior Doctors, Senior Managers, Medical Secretaries and Administration Staff. External Agencies (eg Post Graduate Institute for Medicine and Dentistry).

Required to communicate complex or sensitive information. Required to gain co-operation from staff.

Provide and receive highly complex information.

Required to undertake change management within area of management.

Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.

  • Advanced diploma and/or significant equivalent experience in an administrative post.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Significant administrative experience and experience of line managing a team working at a senior leveL
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Previous experience of managing a team


Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of Digital Dictation and Voice Recognition package.
