Job summary

We have exciting new training roles in Berkshire Healthcare for mental health practitioners with a core profession (or anyone with a relevant professional background and experience which meets the KSA criteria for the BABCP Knowledge Skills and Attitudes (babcp.com)

The successful candidate will work within established secondary care Adult Mental Health services in the IMPACTT Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team. The post-holder will be providing DBT whilst undertaking a 2 year Post Graduate Diploma (PGDip) in DBT. This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide model adherent DBT to patients with a primary diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) and a range of complex difficulties. The post holder will work in the service whilst being given time to attend the required course elements. Following successful completion of training there will be an offer of a Band 7 DBT Therapist role within IMPACTT

IMPACTT is a specialist therapy team working with personality disorders in Berkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for working with people with a diagnosis of EUPD and a desire to deliver standard DBT.

You will be joining a DBT team that takes fostering adherence to the DBT model seriously so that our clients have the best opportunity to get their life worth living. Many of our team are accredited DBT therapists or working towards this by being enrolled on the DBT Diploma.

Main duties of the job

  • You will be completing training in DBT whilst delivering all components of standard DBT; individual therapy, skills group, telephone coaching and attending weekly Consult.
  • You will be facilitating specialist psychological assessments.
  • You will be assessing and monitoring risk and acting to manage these in discussion/ collaboration with colleagues to ensure these are appropriately and safely managed.
  • You will attend supervision.
  • You will attend IMPACTT meetings.
  • You will liaise with other key professionals.

  • Experience of working in mental health services.
  • You must have a passion for working with people with a diagnosis of EUPD and delivering standard DBT.
  • You must be enthusiastic and capable of undertaking intensive training alongside your work.
  • You must have excellent communication skills and work well in a team.
  • You must have good administrative skills.
  • An enhanced DBS check.
