We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with mental health experience to come and join a motivated, caring and innovative team working with young people with eating disorders.

As a key member of the multi disciplinary team you will work with colleagues to deliver an evidence based intervention to young people and their families. In addition to this as an OT in the team you will have the opportunity to provide OT specific interventions in a 1-1 and group format.

The successful candidate should have a passion for working with young people and their families. Have a creative energy and desire and motivation to deliver quality care.

Robust mental health experience, assessment and risk assessment skills are an essential component of this role. Experience in working with young people and eating disorders is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Although based in our North Hub in Basingstoke, you will be part of a wider multi disciplinary team. The post holder will work closely with our OT team to continue to develop the EDT OT pathway .

Main duties of the job

To provide OT specific interventions to young people on a 1-1 and group basis.

To provide care coordination to a small number of cases utilising a family based intervention.

To provide multi disciplinary specialist assessments

To work with OT and wider colleagues to develop the services group based programmes.

To offer OT specific consultation to the wider team.

To offer a OT perspective to the MDT when considering young peoples care needs.

Job responsibilities

To provide occupational therapy interventions for referred clients using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To promote and develop the role of Occupational Therapy within the clinical area.

To act as a care coordinator if appropriate.

Tomanage a caseload of clients.

To provide specialist clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and needs.

To ensure occupational therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.

To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local multi-professional services.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate level study/training
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Practice Education training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools


Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in applying a range of assessment tools and a comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy clinical approaches used in mental health
