We are looking to recruit a Hand Therapist and MSK Physiotherapist (split role) to join our dedicated and motivated team on a full time permanent basis. Part time and flexible working will be considered. The role is a split physiotherapy position, with equal time spent with the hand therapy and MSK physiotherapy outpatient teams. You will work alongside an established team of Physiotherapists who are committed to providing the highest standard of patient care.

The position will provide a broad range of both peripheral and spinal problems that present in both an acute and persistent manner. Rotations within the MSK outpatient role include aquatic therapy, long term conditions and chronic pain, acute presentations (e.g from ED) and a variety of group based classes. You will be expected to manage your own caseload of patients and work closely within the MSK and hand therapy teams, as well as the wider MDT.

There potential to be involved in the FCP service and advance skillset towards this in line with the FCP/AP Roadmap.

Main duties of the job

Assess and treat a variety of MSK and hand therapy conditions whilst working as part of a team to promote and develop evidence based care. Whilst managing your own case load, you will also be part of a full and constantly evolving training and development programme. You will be expected to rotate through a variety of MSK specialist roles, alongside your hand therapy role, whilst receiving expert clinical guidance and support. The role also includes an expectation to support band 5 and student colleagues.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Grad Dip Phys or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Indemity insurance


Desirable

  • CSP membership
  • Formal splint training
  • Working towards British Association of Hand Therapists - Accredited Hand Therapist Qualification.


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of recent and continuous appropriate band 5 rotational experience including orthopaedics.
  • Demonstrate effective management of own workload and autonomous practice
  • Evidence of undertaking relevant post graduate training/ CPD including reflective practice
  • Knowledge & experience in a wide range of MSK conditions (including hands and rheumatology) and good awareness of evidence based practice.


Desirable

  • Previous Band 6 experience
  • Show evidence of doing or have potential to supervise and teach more junior staff, students and other members of the healthcare team
  • Relevant project or service improvement work
  • Evidence of researching HHFT as an employer
  • Experience or interest in audit


Skills and Ability

Essential

  • Effective verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Deputise for more senior therapists
  • Demonstrate understanding and appropriate application of all principles surrounding risk management, data protection, consent, confidentiality etc


Desirable

  • Presentation skills
  • An interest in management of long term conditions
