We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to become part of our dynamic team at Oakwood Unit Prospect Park Hospital. At Oakwood Inpatient Unit, we care for adults with a wide variety of sub-acute medical and surgical needs. Our patient cohort is referred from both acute and community settings. We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist with the relevant skills in rehabilitation to join our team. The successful candidate will be expected to carry a clinical case load, lead on safe patient assessment, prescription of care & safe discharge of our patients working alongside key stakeholders.

The post holder will also work alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapist in providing support and supervision to more junior Physiotherapy staff and support workers. This post entails dealing with members of the general-public and members of the multidisciplinary team so excellent communication, customer care and team working skills are essential.

The team are focused and driven in providing evidence- based practice and the development of new initiatives under the Quality Improvement Programme, and the successful applicant will help deliver staff led initiatives to support this.

Main duties of the job

- To be responsible for the management of a highly complex caseload working closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team in the delivery of rehabilitation and discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition for our patients from hospital to the community.

- To provide highly skilled specialist assessments. To plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based treatments according to individual need. Promoting independence and self-care of long-term conditions.

- Supporting junior members of staff and students visiting the site, whilst participating in in-service training programmes.

- To identify service need and contribute effectively to service development.

Person Specification

Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy

Essential

  • State Registration

  • CSP membership
  • Membership of relevant Special Interest Group


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post graduate NHS experience
  • Ability to demonstrate considerable relevant experience as a Band 5 or 6 physiotherapist in the ward setting
  • Post-graduate experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team
  • Supervision of juniors / assistants / students
  • Experience of delegating tasks


Desirable

  • Experience of service development / leading service development
