Job summary
This is a great opportunity for an acute oncology advanced practitioner to work with a forward thinking multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will be enabled to utilise all four pillars of advanced practice to gain job satisfaction and offer the best possible outcomes for our patients and their families.
The post holder will lead a fantastic, well motivated team of nurses and care coordinators who work within acute oncology and the Cancer of Unknown Primary service.
The Harrogate and District Acute Oncology/CUP Team provides multi-disciplinary support for both hospital and community patients with acute complications of active cancer treatment, and with acute complications of advanced disease.The multi-professional team supports patients across the Trust - providing outreach to inpatients and support to patients in the community by providing an ambulatory (outpatient) service in the SROMC.
The postholder will be play a fundamental role in the strategic direction of acute Oncology services across the Harrogate and West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance.

Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the role will be to provide expert nursing leadership to develop and coordinate a multi professional seamless acute oncology and Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) service across all care settings for patients experiencing acute complications of their cancer treatment or malignancy.
The post holder will be a clinical expert in caring for and managing oncology/haematology patients demonstrating advanced skills and knowledge and also have skills to assess and treat patients independently and refer onwards as necessary.
The post holder will implement and oversee the seven day nursing service.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of excellence within acute oncology and the CUP service alongside other key members of the MDTs. They will maintain ongoing audit programmes to monitor performance and achieve compliance with local and national quality assurance programmes.
The post holder will provide a range of education and clinical learning programmes to meet the needs of health care professionals providing care for acute oncology patients in general areas.
