We are looking for a motivated, passionate and experienced nurse with a passion for medical nursing. The successful candidate will be part of a leadership team and will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, team working skills and be dedicated to improving patient outcomes.

You will be joining a well-supported team with opportunities for leadership development. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate continuing professional development and a strong commitment to develop others. We will offer support for your ongoing professional development and training to widen your experience.

G4 is a 32-bed ward specialises in supporting elderly patients following an acute episode of ill health, recognising the complexity of their needs and the importance of reducing the length of stay (LOS) to prevent them losing their independence. G4 is a fast-paced medical ward that gives the nursing team the opportunity to work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, resulting in high standards of patient care, which is something that we are all passionate about. G4 pride themselves in being a welcoming, supportive and friendly team. We are keen on staff development, caring for patients with varied and complex medical conditions, which will in turn provide our staff with plenty of learning opportunities and the prospect to develop new skills.

Please contact Rosie Cawston, Ward Manager on 01284 713179 for an informal discussion or to arrange a visit.

Main duties of the job

As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for:

Acting as a role model, demonstrating high levels of clinical expertise. Providing leadership on clinical shifts, managing the staff, coordinating the shift and ensuring patient safety at all times.

Active involvement in quality data recording and audit collection in order to ensure the patients are receiving the best possible standards of care and monitor for areas of improvements.

Facilitating a learning environment for staff and students to the ward. Staff development is a key element to the role of a charge nurse/sister, supporting the nursing team to develop and learn and ensuring the competency of colleagues. Alongside this the successful applicant will be required to complete appraisals for the team members, identifying learning opportunities and areas for development.

Sickness management of the ward staff and ensuring efficient rostering system for the ward.

Working together with the ward manager, deputising in their absence, to provide support in ensuring the safe, highest standards and quality to the ward, patients and their families.
