Fixed Term Contract until 31st May 2024, 0.4 WTE
An innovative and experienced paediatric occupational therapist is required to join a specialist regional service for children and adolescents with neuro-disabilities as part of the paediatric neurosciences team for the Newcomen Neurodevelopmental Service, Evelina London Children's Hospital. Our service has a national and international reputation for excellence.
The post holder will take responsibility for contributing to an expert assessment, diagnosis and management service to children with complexneurodevelopmental disorders. The role will require close liaison and working in partnership with community the child/young person, their families, therapy services and/or other appropriate agencies.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to assist senior colleagues as and when necessary in tasks related to audit, teaching and supervision. The post holder should have an interest in current research and national policy and will be encouraged to maintain and develop this focus.
You will be a highly motivated and skilled occupational therapist looking to advance skills in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
You will be experienced in standardised and non-standardised assessments used with this population to contribute tothe young person's developmental profilein order to advise on intervention and management to optimize occupation. You will liaise with community therapy services in supporting children and young people to develop independence in areas of self-care, school work and leisure/play, alongside their families.

You will have experience of developing services in conjunction with multi-disciplinary colleagues to meet the needs of children and their families.
You will be able to critically appraise literature and utilise appropriate evidence to inform your practice. You will be able to articulate the evidence base and clinical reasoning to families and local teams in formulating clinical recommendations for intervention.
The post holder will need to work on specific days of the week to coincide with the clinical and team activities.

- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HPC Registration
- Masters level or equivalent training in specialist area or evidence of significant practical experience, research or publication in specialist area

- Knowledge of specialist paediatric approaches in neurodevelopment.

- Experience of diagnostics in neurodevelopment (ADOS trained)
