Job summary
The clinically-led Musculoskeletal Service at SWB Trust would like to hear from clinicians with an interest in a full-time or hybrid first contact physiotherapy role in order that we can expand to meet the complex needs of our local population. Opportunities are available at:
NHS experience in the community context with experience in primary care is preferred.
SWB Trust comprises Secondary Care specialities, Community Services and GP practices and we additionally support GP PCNs in the Sandwell and West Birmingham areas to promote integrated care. The role may offer the opportunity to develop an FCP Service in partnership with a new PCN for those who enjoy teamwork and building relationships or who are looking to further develop their leadership experience.
Main duties of the job
This role involves working as a lead clinician planning, delivering, evaluating and developing musculoskeletal (MSK) care as a First Contact Practitioner within a PCN as part of the primary care MDT together with the opportunity to work alongside colleagues from the SWBH MSK Service at Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals Trust.
Work alongside, support and liaise appropriately with the wider MDT as required in order to facilitate and optimise patient management.
Help to create and promote a culture of learning, acting as a mentor and playing an active role in the supervision, assessment and education of peers, MDT colleagues, support workers and students.
Work at Level 7 across the 4 pillars of practice (clinical, leadership/management, education, and service evaluation/research) and demonstrate continuous personal professional development across all aspects of the role.
Identify opportunities to promote fitness and wellbeing among patients, Trust employees and the general public, making every contact count, providing added value, promoting function and reducing musculoskeletal sickness absence.
Lead and support evidence based audit and research activity to further develop MSK practice, making and acting upon recommendations for changes in practice to improve service delivery and outcomes
Liaise with the Consultant Physiotherapists, ACP Lead and Operational Leads to streamlined patient-centered MSK Care across the integrated NHS Trust and local community

- Professional qualification in Physiotherapy; HCPC registered
- Portfolio evidence including validated post-graduate clinical. MSK training/development at M level
- Post-graduate education to Masters level
Desirable
- Post Grad Qualification in Musculoskeletal Injection Therapy and Independent Prescribing
- Member of MACP or equivalent
Experience

- Extensive post graduate MSK experience within the NHS including specialist experience within a musculoskeletal/orthopaedic/spinal/ pain management setting
- Evidence of a portfolio to illustrate professional development towards or at Level 7 across the 4 pillars of practice
