Would you like to work with a friendly and dynamic Research and Development Team contributing to the development of research at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research & Development Team as an R& D Facilitator.

Within our Research Department we facilitate a large number of both commercial and non-commercial research studies across a wide range of specialities.

Main duties of the job

As the R& D Facilitator you will be responsible for the study set up of research across a number of clinical areas, working closely with the lead research nurse and coordinator within each area. You will also be the main point of contact within R& D for our researchers and external sponsors to guide them through the R& D approval process.

Previous experience of working within research is desirable, ideally in a hospital setting.

You will have excellent communication, admin and IT skills. You will work within the guidelines and policies for the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with Good Clinical Practice.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to support the research teams within the trust to set up, open and deliver research within the hospital.

The role of Research and Development Coordinator is an important role that provides a key interface between researchers and the Trust research and development departments management systems.

Management of these projects requires accurate documentation review and tracking until the project files are complete and the projects are approved for opening. The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Trust has completed thorough feasibility, is compliant with relevant legislation, research governance requirements and can meet its contractual commitments. This requires close liaison with investigators, research nurses, trial coordinators, service departments and clinicians to ensure the appropriate review and confirmation of research projects.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge. Or able to demonstrate relevant experience commensurate with this post.
  • Evidence of recent GCP/ICH training.


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of high level administration experience.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise workload and meeting deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical trials and clinical trials process.
  • Experience of working within a Clinical trials setting.
  • Experience in Trial coordination.


Desirable

  • Experience of working within a number of different specialties.
  • Experience of reviewing study budgets and negotiating with study sponsors.
  • Knowledge of the Acord Document using to attribute cost for NHS research.
