This is a high trust role working to support the Director of Corporate Governance and Chief Business Officer. The Head of Corporate Information will be responsible for providing high level comprehensive support to ensure the development of a professional business culture.
The Head of Corporate Information will play a fundamental role in managing systems and processes for the disclosure of corporate information, providing advice and guidance to ensure legislative requirements are met at all times.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate high levels of integrity, innovation and commitment to Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, proactively and continually looking to identify new and more effective and efficient ways of delivering corporate business elements.
The post holder will act with integrity developing, maintaining and managing relationships, in line with the Health Board's values. Acting as a key channel for effective communication between the Chief Executive, Executive Directors and colleagues across the Health Board, NHS Wales, Welsh Assembly Government and other external partners.
There will be a need for the post holder to handle highly confidential and sometimes very contentious and sensitive information of a personal, financial and political nature and will therefore be relied upon to observe and comply with specific and implied confidentiality rules and policies

Main duties of the job
The postholder will:
- lead implementation of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, as well as NHS and Welsh Government guidelines and standards and the Information Commissioners Office Codes of Practice. Monitor and ensure compliance in these areas and provide assurance and advice to the Board and its Committees on the effectiveness of related processes and compliance
- lead the development and delivery of effective systems and processes for the processing of Freedom of Information requests received by the Health Board in accordance with corporate and legislative requirement including logging, reviewing and referring requests, collecting information, and collating final responses for review
- ensure the Health Board's disclosure log, publication scheme and corporate webpages are maintained and up-to-date
- provide visible and professional leadership, this may include dealing with complex, contentious and political governance issues in highly sensitive situations, in relation to the application of the Freedom of Information Act and General Data Protection Regulation
- utilise their specialist knowledge, advise on highly complex legal and regulatory issues, often involving difficult judgments in controversial areas such as the Freedom of Information Act, General Data Protection Regulations, and other national legislation
