An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant (8A) at Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) to join an award-winning finance team within a Mental Health environment and a growing Trust.
The post holder will be a senior member of the finance team reporting to the Associate Director of Finance (Financial Accounting and Payroll), responsible for delivering first class, effective financial advice and supporting the wider organisation.
KMPT are looking for an ambitious individual who can bring creativity, passion and determination to the role. We welcome applications from qualified or part qualified individuals, who have experience of operating at a senior level within a large organisation.
Candidates must have previous management experience and a strong understanding of financial accounting. Whilst NHS experience is desirable, this is not essential, and we welcome applications from individuals who are keen to explore a new career in the NHS.

Main duties of the job
As the manager for the Financial Accounts team your role will be essential in ensuring that the Trust can successfully manage and accuratelyreport on our assets and liabilities, including cash, capital, debtors and creditors.
This role is vital in the production of the statutory annualaccounts along with monthly monitoring returns and Board papers, and for the compilation of high quality working papers. The successfulapplicant will need to be able to provide and implement complex technical advice and provide financial leadership to the team to ensure accurateinformation is provided and deadlines are met.

Job responsibilities
To ensure management of the Trusts cash position, leading on cashflow forecasting, producing a monthly cash reporting pack for the senior finance team, managing working capital and ensuring achievement of the External Financing Limit.
To investigate and advise on complex issues associated with capital reporting and fixed assets, ensuring that the trust achieves its statutory targets and lead on capital forecasting and technical adjustments to ensure accurate reporting.
To lead on the population of monthly financial returns and annual accounts forms, ensuring detailed working papers are prepared and that all returns to NHS Improvement (NHSI) and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are accurate, submitted within the prescribed deadlines and comply with current accounting standards, the Department of Health Group Accounting Manual and other statutory requirements
To lead on reporting of the Trust Statement of Financial Position and Cashflow Statement and the associated commentary for monthly board reporting, ensuring all control accounts are reconciled and reviewed.
To ensure that staff across Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust are adhering to finance policies and are using the financial systems in the most effective way, and take a lead role in the use of the Oracle system in liaison with NHS Shared Business Services.
To manage the financial accounting team and take responsibility for their performance.
