Working hours: 22.5 hours per week

A BSc/DCR in Radiography and a PgC in Mammography is essential. You must be registered with the HCPC. The successful candidate would need to be a qualified Mammographer. They will perform routine and Specialised Mammography and help manage the day to day running of the breast imaging unit. Job share will be considered.

Supporting the needs of the unit, liaising with the Outpatient Clinics, Breast Care Nurses, Surgeons and Office Staff. The role will also include involvement in staff and student training to further broaden your experience. Hours may vary.

The successful candidate will may be expected to cover evening clinics and weekend work. You will be involved in the day to day running of the breast imaging unit, supervising the junior members of staff including assistant practitioners and students.

Main duties of the job

The Breast Imaging Unit at The Countess of Chester Hospital delivers a high quality symptomatic service and is part of the Wirral and Chester Breast Screening Programme. We are fully digital with 3 Mammography rooms and 3 ultrasound rooms.
  • You will be involved in the day to day running of the breast imaging unit, supervising the junior members of staff including assistant practitioners and students.
  • You will have the chance to work in a well respected breast imaging unit, providing breast imaging for the Wirral and Chester Breast Screening Programme and symptomatic clinics.
  • You will be expected to take part in the department QA programme.
  • On appointment you will be expected to complete a 2 day Trust induction followed by a 1 month departmental induction throughout which you will have a dedicated mentor and will gain experience as a supernumerary member of staff in ultrasound, interventional mammography, breast screening and symptomatic mammography.

  • BSc in Radiography / Diploma of College of Radiographers.
  • HCPC registered
  • Post Graduate Certificate of Mammography Practice


Desirable

  • Introduction to Communication and Counselling Certificate.

  • Experience of a variety of client types.
  • Sound knowledge of imaging and imaging equipment
  • Understanding of IRMER
  • Mandatory training
