We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and flexible Speech and language Therapist to join our well established Community Speech and Language Therapy team based the Community Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Team (CSNRT) in Bury.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will have experience working with communication and swallowing disorders within the field of adult neurology. Post graduate Dysphagia experience /qualification is essential. You will be responsible for a mixed caseload in the stroke and neurorehabilitation community team.

Main duties of the job

  • Key Responsibilities of the Post:

    The service is delivered in a variety of settings including patient's homes, care homes and clinic environments. You will work with therapy assistants, Multidisciplinary Teams, Administrative teams and Students.
  • To deliver specialist clinical work for patients with varying needs in a variety of settings.
  • To act as a member of the multi-disciplinary team with support from senior colleagues and to contribute to the coordination of Speech & Language Therapy input in this area
  • To assess and treat own caseload of patients maintaining own records as an autonomous practitioner

Person Specification

Registration & Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Post basic training in dysphagia


Desirable

  • MRCSLT
  • Evidence of successful completion of short courses
  • Experience of videofluoroscopy


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in the NHS
  • Considerable post qualified experience of working with adults with acquired neurological conditions
  • Experience of working in community settings
  • Independent dysphagia experience
  • Driving license, car driver and access to a car


Desirable

  • Substantial post qualified experience of working with adults with acquired neurological conditions
  • Considerable experience independently working with dysphagia
  • Experience of working with more complex dysphagia e.g., end of life, risk feeding
