Are you a talented Senior Developer looking to work in an environment where you can make a real difference?

We develop vital systems that are used by our clinical teams to support the delivery of safe and effective care. With numerous clinically focused projects already delivered and many more planned, this is an exciting opportunity to join our established team to develop high quality software.

You will be qualified to postgraduate degree level or have extensive relevant experience in all aspects of software development including SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms or APEX.

You will have excellent communication skills, be team-oriented, have a proven ability in mentoring more junior members of the team and will willing to be flexible and eager to take on new challenges.

Main duties of the job

Within the Development Team you will be working in an Oracle development environment with an emphasis on quality and excellence. It will encompass all aspects of the development life cycle including:
  • Requirements gathering
  • Design
  • Development
  • Testing
  • Deployment
  • Maintenance

For our core electronic patient record and interfaces to other key systems.

Current projects include digitisation of clinical documentation, outpatient transformation and interoperability with the Yorkshire and Humber Care Record.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to postgraduate degree level in a suitable technical discipline, or possess an equivalent qualification, or relevant experience


Desirable

  • Relevant technical qualification for accreditation


Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential

  • Substantial knowledge of for the following technical areas : oDatabase Design oOracle database (11g/12c) development oOracle PL/SQL oAdvanced SQL and SQL tuning oOracle Forms or Oracle APEX
  • Proven ability to transfer and develop skills and knowledge in new technical areas at short notice.


Desirable

  • Working knowledge of: oSQL Loader and other Oracle server utilities oTOAD and TOAD Data Modeller or SQL Developer oVersion control tools oJavascript oHTML/CSS oOBIEE oBI Publisher oXML oHL7 / FHIR


Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • Experience of leading systems development activity
  • Extensive experience of software architecture and development, technical support (including performance monitoring) and technical assurance in a complex technical environment.
  • Extensive experience of the complete development project lifecycle and a track record of implementing systems with: oRelational database management systems oUnit and systems testing oContinuous Integration oUse of ICT in a knowledge-based organisation and in cross-team working. oFormal change control processes oAll aspects of Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience in design, code, test, correction and documentation of large and/or complex programs and program modifications from supplied and implicit specifications using agreed standards and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Experience of taking part in reviewing of own work and leading reviews of colleagues' work.


Desirable

  • Experience of key Agile concepts and their application
  • Has an understanding of the project management methodology Prince II.
