Job summary

AfC Band 8a - �58,698 - �65,095 per annum (inclusive of inner London allowance)

Fixed Term Contract (6 months)

Location: Canary Wharf

This is role will support the Associate Head of Finance - Strategic Planning and will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of the long-term financial strategy, financial model, and business planning cycle, efficiency / transformation programmes and strategic developments. The role will play a key role when inputting into business cases and supporting the wider Strategic planning team.

This is a unique career opportunity for someone to join the Trust in a period of growth and positive change. The role will collaborating with Finance colleagues and have the responsibility of supporting the development of the longer term Group strategy. This role will provide an excellent platform for an ambitious and talented individual who wants to make a real impact.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and will operate well as part of a diverse team. We are looking for a candidate who wants to develop their career within a high performing and challenging organisation. You will be a professionally qualified accountant (or part-qualified), with good experience of using Excel and be confident in your ability to use financial models. It is desirable to have NHS experience, although we are open to candidates from other sectors if they can demonstrate their understanding of the NHS and where they believe they can add value.

Person Specification



  • .Experience of working to tight deadlines and managing priorities
  • .Extensive financial management experience working in a service facing finance role
  • .Significant experience of manipulating large



  • .Excellent planning (short and long term) and organisational skills. Following up to ensure plans are communicated and delivered
  • .Advanced spreadsheet and database IT skills.
  • .Intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills


  • .Ability to an analyse complex information and determine an appropriate course of action



  • oSound knowledge and understanding of the NHS financial environment, especially in relation to capital finance and business case development, along with an awareness of issues and developments in the NHS that might impact on individual organisations.



  • oDegree Qualification or equivalent CCAB fully qualified



  • oHighly motivated individual with the ability to relate to staff at all levels whilst being able to work under pressure to meet objectives and conflicting deadlines.
