The role of Deputy Finance Director is such an important one. Its varied, exciting, challenging but most of all hugely rewarding. The team you will lead is second to none. We're looking to attract a proactive, driven & innovative Deputy Director of Finance to lead the Operational Finance and Strategic Finance Teams. This role is also key in supporting the delivery of excellent patient care and as a member of the core leadership team you will have the opportunity to connect with the services and our amazing clinicians. You'll report to and deputise for the Executive Director of Finance.

Main duties of the job

If you can bring excellent leadership skills and experience of leading and developing a high performing finance function, be able to demonstrate an ability to present complex issues to a wide range of audiences, managerial, clinical, non-executive and other stakeholders and be committed and passionate about the health service, then this role could be for you.

You need to be well organised and with experience of maintaining effective working relationships and communications across multiple and complex stakeholder groups. A positive outlook is essential.

In addition, the successful candidate will need to be able to be released soon after being appointed.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with almost 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is �23 (standard) or �43 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of �13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCAB qualified with significant post qualification experience
  • Educated to master's degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Extensive senior financial management experience with relevant experience of specialist finance business partnering.
  • In depth knowledge of financial and accounting procedures, financial aspects of NHS legislation and policies
  • Advanced practical knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences including the public
  • Able to influence and persuade others and inspire and motivate staff
