We have opportunities for an Acute Medicine Trust Doctor within our Acute Medicine Department at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH). Our posts offer an exciting opportunity to further develop your skills and gain clinical experience together with protected Study Leave time tailored to your specific needs and offer development in leadership, management, audits and teaching. There will be access to a Study Leave budget and the ability to attend additional trainingcourses both internal and external.

It is envisaged you will gain a portfolio of competences and experiences that will enhance your future career, financial assistance will be given to allow you to obtain an extension to your E-portfolio access.

You will have a designated Educational Supervisor during your appointment and you will be able to arrange to attend the regional Acute Medicine regional teaching. This is a one-year post starting from August 2023 (or soon after depending on HR processes) until August 2024.

Main duties of the job

  • Working on busy Acute Medicine inpatient unit (AMU) and our Medical Ambulatory Care (MAC) unit (which delivers same-day emergency care/ SDEC )
  • You will be working in AMU and MAC and could potentially contribute to registrar on calls shifts (to be discussed at interview).
  • You will support our new telemedicine clinic on MAC.
  • our team of Acute Medicine Consultant Physicians come from a diverse range of clinical backgrounds, including Clinical Infection, Elderly Medicine and Critical Care.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • MRCP part 1 examination.
  • Full GMC registration - please do not apply if you do not have full GMC registration at the point of application.
  • Completion of two-year Core Medical (CMT) or Internal Medicine (IMT) or Acute Care Common Stem (ACCS) training programme or equivalence Foundation Programme or equivalent
  • Paid UK NHS experience
  • Advanced life support training from resuscitation council (ALS) or equivalent


Desirable

  • evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to Acute General Medicine
