Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Network Engineer to join our professional team in delivering crucial NHS services to Hackney and beyond. As a member of the Network team, you will be responsible for providing IT networking services from the core infrastructure to desktop, both within the Homerton campus and wherever external services may be required. Your work will involve ensuring the security and confidentiality of the services delivered.

In this role, you will be required to play an active role in Information Security and contribute to planning, developing, and maintaining a sound platform to provide an effective, resilient, and flexible infrastructure for both voice and data. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience in integrating multiple technology platforms and brands of products, strong communication skills, and a passion for solving complex problems at scale.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the Senior Network Engineer include
  • managing, maintaining and monitoring the network, telecoms, security, and computer systems to meet the organisation's current and future needs.
  • Responsible for identifying performance issues proactively
  • Manage internal and external access to IT services
  • Contribute to IT and directorate business plans and projects
  • Provide technical support to the helpdesk team
  • Provide training to technical and non-technical staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring security measures are effective, investigating security breaches
  • Communicate highly complex technical information to staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • Manage the network team, supervise temp staff, and deputise for the Network Manager when required.

  • Networking Technologies Certifications and/or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
