Welcome to the Asthma Allergy Team

We are looking a Band 5 nurse who would like to further their career, you need to be passionate and open to challenges and learning new skills, enjoy working as part of an expanding and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team, as well as being able to manage your own workload accordingly.As a Regional Asthma Centre for the South of England and we have a wide caseload with difficult airways clinics twice a week and daily in-patient ward reviews. We also have a wide range of treatments includes monoclonal antibodies via subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusions for severe and difficult asthma.

The service provides in-depth service with the Allergy team recognised by the World Allergy Organisation ( WAO) and you will be a part of this team as well supporting various clinics after training.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the team on 02381204325 or look for Senior Sister Ellie Rayala-Montaniel.

Job responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOULL DO
  • Instigates programmes of care, using evidenced-based practice, that address the patients complex and changing health requirements including allergy testing, difficult airways and latest asthma care for patients in the tertiary level.
  • Promotes well-being among patients, encouraging them and advising them on how to optimise their own health status through managing their symptoms and correct use of devices.
  • Establishes and maintains good communication with a range of patients and, where appropriate, their family and carers, in a variety of potentially complex and stressful situations.
  • Liaises closely with the multi-disciplinary team when the patients respiratory needs are beyond their own scope of practice and appropriately refers to and/or other relevant agencies and health care professionals, where necessary.
  • Recognises when emergency assistance or additional support is required and is aware of the correct procedures and pathways to adhere to in order to alert others to take action.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
  • Health and physical abilities sufficient for the post (if necessary with reasonable adjustments with respect to the Equality Act/Disability Discrimination Act)
  • Registered nurse/midwife, Degree-level modules in relevant subject or evidence of CPD to Bachelor degree-level equivalence. Post-qualification training relevant to specialism/area of practice.
  • Positive attitude, problem-solving approach, evidenced based care philosophy, enthusiasm for nursing and speciality over all team player with good working relationships.
