Job summary
Are you an experienced midwife with leadership experience looking for a more senior role? We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed Midwife with good leadership skills
The Maternity Ward has 21 Antenatal and Postnatal beds and includes induction rooms.
You should be a supportive and motivational leader, have experience across all areas of Midwifery, be committed to fulfilling the Better Births agenda, be organised and be able to support and guide the team through the changes required to be compliant with the National Agenda for Maternity services.
You will be required to work flexibly and participate in the Maternity Bleep holder Rota. You will be expected to promote professional standards and be proactive in leading on service improvements.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry responsibility for the Maternity Ward, including the line management of staff allocated to that area.
They will be accountable for the smooth running and maintenance of standards in their clinical area of responsibility.
They will be responsible for providing leadership based on current evidence based practice and will work closely with the other clinical leads, shift leader, Matron for Maternity services and Obstetricians to ensure an optimum level of safe and effective care throughout the Maternity services and to lead on service development

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
