We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is looking to develop their Education and Training skills to join our friendly and inclusive E& T team at Southampton as Lead Pharmacist for Postgraduate Education.

UHS has one of the largest pharmacy departments in the country with over 300 staff and are nationally recognised for their innovation. The pharmacist team is made up of over 100 pharmacists: including over 50 qualified independent pharmacist prescribers, several consultant pharmacists and leading national experts.

As a department, each week we review over 16,000 medicines for their appropriateness, dispense over 8000 patient specific medicines, manage an medicines expenditure of approximately �1.5 million and provide access to medicines, advice, and e-prescribing support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.We are committed to training and the E& T team like the department itself, is busy, flexible and responsive to ever changing needs.

Job responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOULL DO

You will join a well established Education and Training team leading the management and support of postgraduate education and training for pharmacists for example through the postgraduate diploma and prescribing courses and supporting the establishment of the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) role within the department.

You will act as a deputy in the day to day running of the Pharmacy Education and Training Team.

You will also support the leadership and development of other team members of the Education and Training team.

Person Specification

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Can demonstrate Advanced Stage 1 competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Sound knowledge of clinical pharmacy services acquired while working within a suitable specialty.
  • Experience of audit and evaluative work
  • Teaching and tutoring experience
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Experience of implementing change and change management
  • Development and implementation of guidelines and procedures.
  • Experience of change management


Desirable

  • Management qualification or equivalent experience
  • MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Independent Prescribing qualification.
  • Can demonstrate Advanced Stage 2 or Mastery competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients
