Job summary

The post holder will primarily be responsible for the management, safety, and regulatory compliance of medical devices across NHFT. This is a new role and is a full time position that will report to the Head of Deteriorating Patient Pathways and Resuscitation Training Officer.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead on the design, implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive medical devices safety service across EPUT, ensuring that systems are in place to inform staff of the Trust's medical devices safety policies and procedures, along with individual responsibilities related to medical devices
  • To work in partnership with operational managers and maintenance providers for the provision of specialist advice and support for medical devices
  • Act as a specialist in medical devices safety, provide management advice, support, and teaching to relevant
  • Work with managers or leads to ensure medical equipment is fit for purpose, available, properly maintained, is used correctly in line with the manufacturer's
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place for purchasing, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and decommissioning and replacement of medical devices
  • In conjunction with the EPUT medical devices committee, is responsible for the Trust' compliance with CQC and national standards/guidelines and advising on resources needed to comply with those standards
  • Manage medical device alerts and field safety notices
  • Review medical equipment incidents and reporting to MHRA
  • Co-chair and active member of EPUT medical devices committee
  • Lead on medical device education and competency and delivery of relevant training
  • Lead on management of medical device database, issue, and tracking
  • Lead on audit compliance with medical device management
