Job summary

We are pleased to offer this development role to an enthusiastic, committed psychologist to contribute to the development and delivery of community adult mental health services in Herefordshire. This post is for 30 hours a week (0.8 WTE) but we would welcome discussion around hours.

We welcome applications for full time/part time working

There is opportunity for blended working (on site and from home).

You will commence in role as a band 7 and then on successful completion of the development plan move to a band 8a. Copies of both job descriptions are included in the supporting documents.

Herefordshire is at the forefront of Community Transformation. We have an integrated and inclusive psychological therapies pathway, offering a range of standalone psychological interventions as well as delivering care to those with more complex presentations. We have robust Emotion Regulation and Psychosis Pathways and are central to the development of Trauma Informed Care and promoting Compassionate Leadership across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will be a welcome member of a small but diverse team of psychological professions within Herefordshire Neighbourhood Mental Health Service. The team consists of applied psychologists, psychological therapists and art psychotherapists. New roles include CAPs and MHWBPs.

We prioritise psychological assessment, formulation and consultation early within a service-users journey. You will also:

Offer specialist individual interventions and contribute to our extensive group programme.

Help to create and sustain more co-produced psychologically and trauma informed systems of care.

Be actively supported to develop service initiatives in line with key national and local priorities and with our local partners.

Be a valued member of our highly respected psychological service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will:
  • Behave consistently with and promote the values and beliefs of the organisation
  • Use their initiative, be responsible and accountable for providing a systematic psychology service, specialist psychological interventions, clinical and research supervision and training to other health and care staff as agreed with the service lead/manager.
  • Receive and actively participant in regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice.
  • Participate in national and regional professional speciality meetings and seminars as appropriate
  • Meet and maintain targets within the adult mental health service

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience required specific to the role and clinical area
  • Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
  • Experience of conducting clinically relevant research
  • Significant experience of supervised practice including working with families and care organisations
  • Experience of assessing and providing a wide range of psychological interventions to a wide range of patients presenting with a full range of clinical severity
  • Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for a patients psychological care and treatment
  • Experience of teaching on a Doctoral Clinical/Counselling Psychology


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and national guidance and their implication for clinical practice


Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Highly developed and effective communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to communicate complex, highly personal and sensitive information.


Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc/BA Honours degree at 2:1 or above in Psychology
  • Post graduate Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • Evidence of regular continuing professional development through further professional training and experience, as required by the
  • HCPC and the BPS
  • Eligible for registration as a Chartered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling) by the BPS
  • Registered with HCPC as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
