An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, forward-thinking and collaborative team at South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. Our Dietetic Department of more than 55 staff is managed as one team, but is structured into smaller teams led by Senior Specialist Dietitians. We are actively involved in the training of Trainee Dietitians and offer A, B and C placements for both Leeds Beckett and Newcastle University.

We are looking to recruit a committed Dietitian to join our friendly and pro-active department. Our Department recognises the importance of work-life balance and we actively support flexible working within our department.

Access to local amenities are within walking distance from Sunderland hospital including post office, Subway, supermarkets, bakery and more. Transport links to Newcastle city centre via Metro. Main duties of the job

The Nutrition and Dietetics department has excellent working links with the wider MDT and we are looking for an Applicant who is confident in communicating with a range of professionals.

You will be responsible for providing a dietetic service for paediatric patients referred by the acute and community paediatric multi-disciplinary teams both for in and outpatients. You will work as a core member of the paediatric dietetic team as well as involvement in the wider MDTs including diabetes, complex nutritional needs, childhood obesity, allergies, neonatal, home enteral feeding, and eating disorders. You will work in close liaison between acute and community sectors.

The Department is friendly and supportive and encourage CPD, including regular clinical supervision and evidence-based practice groups.

To provide Nutrition and Dietetic services to children and their families/carers in conjunction with the Senior Specialist Dietitian. This will involve assessing the nutritional status of patients and the development of dietary care plans for children within both in-patient and out-patient settings.

To be clinically competent to provide specialist advice, treatment and dietary counselling to children and their families/carers.

To work as an autonomous practitioner within appropriate clinical and professional guidelines and as part of a team.

To contribute to the development of dietetic resources for children and families/carers.

To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary treatment.

To take an active part in the training of trainee Dietitians.

To undertake an annual appraisal with the Senior Specialist Dietitian.

To identify personal training needs undertaking relevant CPD opportunities to develop new and to maintain and update existing skills.

To help to provide cover for colleagues.

To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade/band as requested by the Head of Dietetics.
