Main duties of the job

  • Importantly, you'll be educated to Masters level in a healthcare field or equivalentwith sound understanding of NHS policy, legal & inspection frameworks.
  • Reporting to the Joint Group Medical Directors & Group Chief Nurse & using your substantial experience in clinical & corporate governance at a sub board level, you'll be accountable for the delivery of the Patient Safety & Quality Strategy. Providing leadership & direction on the Trust's first strategic objective -To improve patient safety, clinical quality & outcomes.
  • Working across the entire Group, you'll support the nine Hospital/Managed Clinical Services/Community Services Executives & their teams on all areas of clinical governance so that high standards are consistent across the organisation & learning is shared. You'll report on progress at Board level, throughout the organisation & externally to regulators & our partners.
  • What's more, as a meticulous subject matter expect with a can-do attitude, you'll lead on the Trust relationship development with several healthcare regulatory agencies including but not limited to the Care Quality Commission.
  • Lastly, with a breadth of skills in managing external regulation & response & highly capable in preparing reports & presentations for both a local & national level, you'll lead oversight & assurance processes for compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters level education in a healthcare field or equivalent experience
  • Statistical knowledge, data-handling and research skills
  • Good understanding of NHS policy, legal and inspection framework
  • Sound understanding of health and social care legislation and practice


Desirable

  • Broad knowledge of healthcare regulation to include the Human Tissue Act
  • Nursing Qualification (RGN) and registration with professional body (NMC)


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of clinical and/or corporate governance at a sub-board level
  • Proven track record in delivering measurable improvement
  • Substantial experience of the management of external regulation and response
  • Extensive experience of preparation of reports and presentations at an organisational or national level
  • Proven credibility with external stakeholders


Desirable

  • Experience of successful project delivery
  • Evidence of publication or presentation at a national level


Computer Literacy

  • Word processing skills

  • Spreadsheet skills
