Job summary

The Facilitates team at the QE Hospital in Birmingham, B15 is expanding - We have created over 20 vacancies for zero hour Housekeepers. This flexible working pattern will see various shifts of days, nights and weekends available via our internal bank.

As a key member of this vital team you will be charged with all aspects of cleaning within wards, communal areas and consultation rooms. This will include; infection control and quality assurance. This critical role is key to the safety and well being of our patients and team members.

Ideally you will have experience within a cleaning/housekeeping or a hygiene based role where you have worked to deadlines and within set guidelines.

Cleaning experience is not essential as full training will be provided - however you will need high attention to detail with the ability to follow instruction with little supervision.

In return you can expect an hourly rate which offered shift enhancement for nights and weekends which is paid weekly in arrears, along with a public sector pension, uniform and more.

Main duties of the job

Full disclosure of duties and responsibilities can be found in the job description. Duties include but are not limited to:

Work in a safe, courteous and confidential manner in line with Trust policy and associated standard operating procedures

To maintain a level of cleanliness and hygiene within your designated work area

Using electrical equipment safely to clean all floor services

Dust control (including high dusting)/mopping/vacuuming

Clean and maintain sanitary areas, fixtures and fittings

Clean kitchens, appliances and fittings in line with Food Hygiene Regulations

Provide food hostesses services to patients

Empty waste containers including, clinical, household, glass and bottle waste

Routinely spot clean walls from splashes and collision marks

Change and re-hang bedside and window curtains when required routinely or after infected barrier cases, bag and send these to laundry.

Carry out daily routine and in depth vocational cleaning of patient barrier rooms including patients with infectious diseases

Work collectively with teams and departments to maintain stock levels

Clean up body fluids including blood, vomit and faeces in public areas using appropriate PPE and decontaminating any affected surfaces

Maintain daily cleaning paperwork in working areas

Attend training sessions including job specific training, any related certification schemes, and mandatory training

Responsibility for the security of cleaning consumables/chemicals and materials. Follow COSHH guidance
