Job summary
Theatre Practitioners are critical to the smooth running of each theatre. ODPs/anaesthetic practitioner will work closely with consultants and other health care professionals to provide a high quality care and safety for patients during their peri-operative phase of care. You will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm to help create individualised patient care that is compassionate and caring. Create an effective learning environment using varied caseloads, technology, and equipment and state-of-the-art facilities. And keep skills and knowledge up to date. This post will demand a commitment to providing flexible shift cover and out of hours working, i.e. on-call.
This post will have professional development opportunities, supported by our educator and access to online courses available via the Trust. We have a professional development pathway to support progression.
The successful candidate will be required to hold the appropriate qualifications to be a registered practitioner with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) OR as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with Anaesthetic Qualification, or as an ODP. They will also demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development. Applications are welcomed from newly qualified practitioners.
Please note, applications will only be considered from registered ODP's or registered Nurses with an approved UK anaesthetic qualification.
Main duties of the job
Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision
Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised patient care evidence-based
Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered, in the delivery of patient care
Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly
Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy
Monitor patients' progress, work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on appropriately.
Act as the patient's advocate
