Job summary

The post holder's role is to support the Digital Medicines Lead and the Digital Nursing Lead(s) with the delivery of the Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system.

The core function of this role will be to support activities such as solution design, testing, piloting, auditing, training and implementation, staff and patient engagement.

The post holder will be an ambassador for EPMA and ensure clear communication and engagement between the Digital program and wards utilising medicines management knowledge and experience of existing ward processes to deliver effective solutions.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the configuration of the EPMA system in such a way as to facilitate front-line staff with the safe and effective recording of accurate and timely information.
  • Work with groups of staff at all levels within a given area and contribute to define, analyse and re-design existing medicines management processes with a view to ensuring that the EPMA related processes are safe, efficient, effective and measurable and contribute to delivering an improved quality of service. This can take place through workshops, meetings and one-to-one sessions.
  • Support and co-ordinate pilots, testing and auditing activities, ensuring methodical data capture to facilitate analysis with stakeholders.
  • Supervise other members of the wards team by creating 'championship' roles in areas and providing support, training and development opportunities to these roles. There will be a requirement to update this group through various means of communication and develop appropriate training and update packages.

  • RGN - Diploma and working towards or willing to work towards degree level
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Evidence of pre and post registration supervision of students
  • Logical and analytical approach required when designing a new solution


Desirable

  • Teaching/ Mentorship/Training qualification
  • Computer based qualification
  • Business Process mapping and workflow diagram techniques and applications


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive and up to date knowledge of nursing role(s) and medicines management including NMC standards and requirements
  • Understanding the importance of data confidentiality


Desirable

  • NHS Policies and Strategies, including Data Protection & IG Toolkit requirements
  • Knowledge and practical experience of change management and business re-design
