An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered midwife who has an interest/passion for clinical education and teaching. The successful candidate will work 37.5 hrs a week as a band 6 Practice Educator Facilitator.
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic midwife who has a keen interest in the education of midwives who will work as part of the Practice Development Team in Maternity.
The successful candidate will also work clinically alongside midwives to support in the learning, supervision and assessment of new skills and extended scopes of practise, in particular with the newly qualified midwife.
Key skills and qualities required include being organised, diplomatic, approachable, and autonomous, be able to maintain confidentiality and be a good team player. A passion for teaching on both group and individual basis, and the ability to use flexible teaching strategies is imperative to this post to ensure all learning styles can be met.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for supporting new members to the clinical maternity wards and the Community Midwifery services to develop their skills, knowledge, competence and confidence in the care of women and their babies within this clinical area.
You will also support and develop existing members of the midwifery to enable them to reach their full potential within this speciality. Working with other members of the multidisciplinary team you will develop clinical practice through current research and evidenced-based practice.

The service at North Bristol Trust is based at Southmead Hospital and provides a full range of obstetric services for those who live in the catchment of North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. The maternity department is one of the largest in the country, was awarded 'Good' by the CQC has more than 5200 births each year offering women the choice of 4 places of birth.
These include a Consultant led Obstetric Unit with 2 HDU rooms, 9 birthing rooms and a pool room. The antenatal ward hosts a Triage, day assessment area and inpatient ward. The postnatal ward prides itself on giving the best quality postnatal care, caring for each other and the new mothers, families and babies.
There is an Alongside Midwifery Unit , a Freestanding Midwifery Unit at Cossham Hospital , and Home Birth Team. There are highly skilled midwifery teams who value the autonomy and varied responsibilities of these areas.
The Maternity services are well renowned nationally and internationally, having created and developed PROMPT and has a wide research portfolio. Room 10 is a truly multi-disciplinary hub room on the central delivery suite which demonstrates the value of working alongside others with professionalism and safety.
