This is an amazing opportunity to develop your Nursing career. We are looking for an experienced Sister/Charge Nurse in Diabetes and Endocrinology team within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are an established Nursing team on Ward 5 who strive to provide an excellent standard of care to all our patients. The total bed capacity for 28 male and female in-patients specialising in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Although it is a demanding ward we work closely as a team and deal with the day to day pressures with positivity and high levels of energy. We love making a difference and working together as a close family to gain the rewards of making a patients journey enjoyable and successful.

You must be able to lead, support and motivate a team to provide the highest quality patient care and show evidence of effective leadership, organisational and communication skills. If you are a dynamic and motivated individual then we would love for you to apply!

Main duties of the job

You must have previous experience as a senior Staff Nurse working in an acute setting and possess sound clinical assessment and communication skills. In return we can offer bespoke training opportunities to enable you to achieve your career goals.

You will support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within or by the ward, department, service or team.

You will be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.

You will also provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support day to day efficient running of the clinical area, service.

You will also act as a strong role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential. Actively engage in research and development opportunities for the service.

This will ensure the productive operation of the ward environment through the maintenance of a safe, clean and organised environment.

• Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within or by the ward, department, service or team.
• Ensure a high standard of nursing is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines.
• Assist and support the Ward Manager in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes.
• Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
• Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
• Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
• Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

• oAppropriate NMC Registration
• oDiploma or Degree in Nursing
• oNMC recognised Mentorship qualification
• oEvidence of continuing professional education or development in area of speciality

Desirable

• oDegree
• oPost registration qualification in area of speciality area

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

• oEvidence of leadership experience and learning.
• oKnowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding and the relevance to practice
• oKnowledge of relevant policies and procedures
• oExperience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
• oKnowledge of Ethical issues
• oAwareness of recent advances within Nursing practice
