Are you a current Emergency Nurse, with a passion for education?

This is a new opportunity for a Band 6 role in education within the ED at Poole Hospital. You will be working alongside the Band 7 Practice Educator to provide clinical supervision, practical training and continuing professional development to nursing staff of all grades within ED. This will include working with students, overseas nurses and newly qualified nurses.

We are looking for an hard working individual with good interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate should relish the challenge of a fast paced and exciting environment whilst wanting to develop and educate the emergency care team to the highest standard.

You will have the right attributes to deliver formal and informal inter-professional education, using a variety of teaching and learning strategies, in order to support lifelong learning and improve the delivery of evidence-based, patient focused care.

Whilst this position would be primarily base in Poole Hospital it will be an expectation of the role to work across both Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals

Knowledge

Essential

  • Clear understanding of current pressures in emergency care
  • Knowledge of current developements in emergency care


Desirable

  • Experience of induction of \International Nurses and OSCE process


Technical Skills Competencies

Essential

  • Ability to identify and manage acutely ill patients
  • Cannulation and Venepuncture
  • ILS certificate


Desirable

  • Completion of an emergency care competency document
  • Ability of apply Plaster of Paris
  • Wound closure skills
  • ABGs


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Degree (adult)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Post- registration qualification in Emergency Nursing


Desirable

  • ALS provider
  • EPALS provider
  • Teaching and assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable and recent experience in Emergency Nursing
  • Evidence of ability to perform triage
  • Demonstrable and recent experience in teaching and assessing


Desirable

  • Previous experience at Band 6 in acute setting
  • Evidence of change management
  • Experience of leading Simulation learning session
  • Evidence of team building development
