We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, adaptable Pharmacist who can demonstrate that they meet our Trust values. You must be able to work as part of the Pharmacy, and wider multi-disciplinary team, to deliver excellent pharmaceutical care and services to our patients.

The Department of Pharmacy at CUH is ambitious and forward thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything we do. We are a large department with nearly 300 staff comprising of approximately 90 pharmacists and 70 pharmacy technicians. We have a dedicated Education and Training team to support the learning and development of all our employees.

You will join a friendly team of 14 Resident Pharmacists providing pharmaceutical services and supporting our Pharmacy's out of hours service on a rotational basis.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide pharmaceutical services as required in each section of the rotation.2. To provide a clinical pharmacy service to allocated wards.3. To participate in the Resident first on-call Service to Addenbrooke'sHospital and other hospitals as required.4. To undertake postgraduate studies appropriate to the levelof competence and availability of funding.

    Job responsibilities

    You will undertake a rotational training programme which includes Clinical Services, Dispensary, medicines information, clinical trials and Preparative Services. Each rotation incorporates dedicated clinical time and you will gain experience across a range of clinical specialities including Medicine, Surgery, Neurosciences, Paediatrics and Oncology. During your foundation years, you will be provided with a wide range of opportunities to develop the skills, behaviours and attitudes that you will continue to use throughout your career in hospital Pharmacy.

    You will receive guidance and feedback to aid your development as well as gaining additional support via our clinical supervision programme. We run regular pharmacist teaching sessions within the department which includes dedicated rotational pharmacist teaching sessions delivered on a variety of topics by specialist pharmacists as well as external speakers.

    We fund a range of postgraduate pharmacy practice diplomas to support our pharmacists through the first few years of their careers all pharmacists undertaking these programmes are assigned a personal tutor from within the department.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • MPharm or equivalent EU qualification
    • Registered with GPhC as a Pharmacist


    Desirable

    • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
    • Post graduate certificate or diploma in Pharmacy practice


    Experience

    Essential

    • Postgraduate training recognised by GPhC
    • Experience working in a team
    • Experience making decisions independently


    Desirable

    • Experience working in a UK hospital pharmacy


    Knowledge

    Essential

    • Knowledge and experience of clinical audit
    • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy in at least one specialty
    • Knowledge of NICE guidance and NPSA alerts


    Desirable

    • Knowledge of research and audit methodologies

    • Computer literate with experience of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • Strong communication skills
    • Good patient consultation skills
