Senior Category Manager - BAND 7

An exciting opportunity has become available for an exceptional procurement professional to join our growing Procurement Team at United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust as a Senior Category Manager based in the vibrant university city of Lincoln.

The post holder will support the Head of Category and colleagues within the Procurement Team as well as key stakeholders from the Corporate & Digital divisions to develop, lead and deliver a complex programme of work with particular focus on the Trust's Corporate and/or Digital portfolio.

The post holder is expected to seek the best commercial outcome in the procurement of goods and services. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of divisional Category Strategies and ensure procurement programmes are delivered compliantly within the bounds of EU, National and Trust regulations and policy.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced and pro-active procurement specialist who possess excellent communication and influencing skills. You will be able to develop strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers and be able to work at pace in a dynamic environment. You will also possess good computer and analytical skills to manage and process data, and you will be able to summarise findings and make recommendations to others to support the delivery of identified procurement outcomes.

As well as procurement programme management, the post holder may also have line management responsibilities and will therefore be able to lead and manage people to support delivery of the Corporate and Digital procurement work plan.

The post will be full-time, and the successful applicant will be based at Beech House, Lincoln, although with a flexible working approach (post Covid-19) The post holder must be able to travel to other ULHT sites to fulfil their procurement duties. The post holder will play a key role in implementing ULHTs vision & strategy for Procurement, delivering the aspiration to become Best in Class.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oEducated to Degree Level or equivalent managerial experience and knowledge
  • oFull Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or recent relevant equivalent experience
  • oEvidence of Continued Professional Development
  • oExperience working at a Masters level within a business environment


Desirable

  • oRecognised business development qualification (e.g. programme or project management)


Previous Experience

Essential

  • oSignificant working knowledge of Procurement
  • oDemonstrable purchasing and supply management at a senior level.
  • oBudget and general management.
  • oDeveloping and implementing complex strategies and policies.
  • oExpert knowledge in EU Procurement legislation procedures, procurement and contract management.
  • oStaff management and supervision.
  • oExperience in engaging with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers
