We would welcome applications from both newly qualified nurses and those with post qualification experienceDeene B Ward is an acute Surgical Ward and longer Stay Ward specializing in General Surgery, Urology and ENT patients. We work closely with the emergency admissions ward DASU and the other surgical wards. You will be required to provide support, specialized knowledge and expertise in the day-to-day care and management of surgical patients on the ward. Working within this very busy environment will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your clinical skills. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills and expertise in surgical wound care and skills. We would actively encourage and promote professional development.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the care of surgical patients, support colleagues and be an active team member of Deene B. To undertake clinical skills as required. To utilize communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues. To support the ward management team in delivering a high standard of patient care and to assist them to improve quality and patient safety in the ward environment. To work closely with specialist nurses and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

  • NMC Registered Nurse


Desirable

  • Teaching/Assessing qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development


Knowledge and experience

  • Identification, assessment and development of patient needs and development of programmes of care

  • Post registration experience ( 2 years)


Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to assess,plan,implement and evaluate clinical care
  • Hand/eye co-ordination e.g. for preparation of drugs and injection
