An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a friendly and dedicated team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the South West Cleft Service.
This role has a specific focus on Somerset, West Wiltshire and Bristol based patients and families supported by the Bristol based Lead CNS, working collaboratively with the wider multi-disciplinary team and the families within our care.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, team player, and dedicated advocate for our families. Compassion, a flexible approach, and own transport are essential.

Main duties of the job
To be a core member of the multidisciplinary team specialised in the management of the child with cleft lip and/or palate and their families mainly within the Somerset and Bristol area promoting a partnership of care between family and professionals. This is a service spanning hospital and community. The nursing team aims to respond to new baby referrals within 24 hours.
To be responsible for assessing and planning the nursing care of his/her own caseload using evidence-based practice, based on a holistic family approach. This is the regional service for the South West, so driving to make visits or attend local clinics will be required.

- NMC Registered Children's Nurse
- 1ST Degree In nursing or health related subject.-
- Qualification in Teaching and Assessing

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of working with children and families, ideally both in the community and in hospital
- Experience of working with children with cleft lip and/or palate
- Evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge, experience and/or training in counselling

- Demonstration of specialist knowledge in cleft lip and palate, completion of relevant specialist short courses and advanced clinical skills training underpinned by theoretical knowledge
