As a Registered Health Care Professional working in immunisations, sampling and health protection the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service. The post holder will undertake activities such as: clinical assessment, dilution and drawing up of the vaccine from multi-dose vials and post vaccine observations support, swabbing, venepuncture and cannulation.

They will assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. They will work alongside the nursing team members, providing support to junior colleagues in the provision of direct care and demonstrate the health board's values.

They will be required to manage the day to day operation of the vaccination and screening workload and provide services within the community where required, such as in clients' homes, education settings, primary care settings and 'pop up 'premises.

Be able to drive and transport equipment and information to different venues as required. There is a requirement to work flexibly across the Health Board footprint.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

Work with the service leads to reflect on and analyse information gatheredthrough contacts with families and undertaking any assessments to makeinformed decisions and professional judgments which must be recorded in the documentation and when writing reports.

To analyse families with complex needs which will inform referrals to other multi agency professionals if necessary.

Engage with colleagues, multi-agencies and relevant stakeholders to targetareas of low uptake of immunisations and outbreak scenarios and improve and enhance uptake across the whole Hywel Dda University Health Board's footprint.

Maintain the health records, ensuring all filing is kept up to date.

Plan, organise and prioritise own workload on a daily and monthly basis.

Identify competing priorities and discuss with Service Leads to agree priorities, including any outbreak situation.

Act in accordance to legal and statutory guidance and comply with all Hywel Dda University Health Board policies and procedures, including safeguarding.

Ability to speak welsh is desirable for this role

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • NMC registered qualified nurse
  • Immunisation clinical knowledge


Desirable

  • Evidence of post registration study and training e.g. POVA
  • Evidence of post registration study and training, e.g. Child Protection
  • Evidence of post registration study and training, e.g. Intermediate Life Support if required in clinical setting
  • Knowledge of incident reporting policy


Experience

Essential

  • Pre-registration/professional evidence in direct nursing care
  • Experience of providing holistic nursing care
  • Venepuncture & Cannulation skills
  • Immunisation delivery experience


Desirable

  • Clear understanding of clinical governance framework
  • Implement evidence based practice
