We have a vacancy for a Band A Dentist to work as part of our experienced and friendly community dental team.

Main duties of the job

Urgent care for those members of the community who have been unable to access treatment with an NHS General Dental Practitioner and routine care for children will be the main focus of this position.

The post holder will be encouraged and given opportunities to develop skills under the guidance of Specialist clinicians in MOS, Special Care and Paediatrics and undertake further training including training in RA sedation and GA exodontia.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following list reflects typical duties that the post holder could be expected to undertake. This is not an exhaustive list, and may be subject to change, by mutual agreement, in order to meet the changing needs and requirements of the service.

Full training and support will be provided where required.
  • Urgent dental care for patients who have been unable to access treatment with a general dental practitioner.
  • Full range of care for children registered with service.
  • The provision of professional advice and support to other health workers.
  • Liaison with other dental care providers including within the GDS and Hospital services.
  • Administration associated with these duties including completion of appropriate NHS forms and referrals.

General
  • Provision of services on more than one site as dictated by service requirements.
  • Take part in personal development and appraisal.
  • Take part in clinical audit, peer review and any other clinical governance requirements.
  • Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development relevant to the requirements of the service.
  • This post involves working with children and vulnerable adults and will require a DBS check.
  • Maintain a safe working environment complying with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Care Quality Commission and the policies of Livewell Southwest

  • Full GDC registration
  • Hold Performer number


Experience

Essential

  • Completed Foundation Dentist Training
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Evidence of CPD


Desirable

  • Urgent Care experience
  • Experience of primary dental care
  • MOS experience
  • Experience of treating children
  • Experience and skills in treating patients with special needs
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
