2 positions available:

1x Permanent 37.5 hours - The post holder will be based at our East Integrated Community Hub at the Blakesley Centre in Yardley for 4 days a week and will offer a 1 day per week in our South Integrated Community HUB at the Oaklands Centre in Selly Oak.

1x Permanent 15 hours (2 working days) - The post holder will be based at the West Integrated Community Hub at the Finch Road Hub in Lozells for two days a week.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic clinician, to provide a highly specialist CYP IAPT, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) service to children and young people up to the age of 18 with mild to moderate/complex anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The post-holder will work in the CYP IAPT CBT team and as part of the Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) partnership, and will contribute to the development of FTB services in accordance with the CYP IAPT principles.

This post is suitable for a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist, or an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist, Senior Mental Health Practitioner, or clinician with a core profession. Clinician will be accredited or working towards accreditation with the BABCP

The post-holder will be part of the CYP IAPT CBT team and deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to children and young people up to the age of 18.

Main duties of the job

It is essential applicants can meet the travel requirements of the post and be willing to travel between Trust sites and to appointments within the Team catchment area.

To provide specialist psychological assessment and evidence-based, formulation, and protocol-driven High Intensity CBT interventions to children and young people experiencing generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, separation anxiety, specific phobia, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder and their families in accordance with NICE guidance.

Person Specification

Analytical and Judgement Skills

Essential

  • Ability to analyse complex data, including service data, including good information technology of Microsoft office programs.
  • Ability to produce and maintain good quality written reports, audits and clinical records.
  • Skills in delivering High Intensity CBT
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to deliver interventions to children, young people and their families.


Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional qualification (e.g. D.Clin.Psy, RMN, Mental Health Nursing Qualification).
  • Registered with relevant professional body e.g. Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Post registration or post-doctoral training in a CBT treatment modality to diploma/degree standard as a minimum.


Desirable

  • Willingness to undertake further training as required.
  • Significant CYP-IAPT post graduate training in delivery the model and supervision .


Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of working with children
  • and families.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from an variety of sources e.g. ROMs, evidence based literature and research.
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Able to maintain a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
  • Able to work as part of a team and to lead others
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Adhere to professional guidelines and trust clinical governance standards.
  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. ASD, personality
  • disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities).
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.


Desirable

  • Experience of teaching, training, staff support, research.
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experiencing of providing clinical supervision to others


Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in children and adolescents.
  • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
  • Ability to manage caseload effectively by demonstrating good clinical outcomes.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is protected at all times.
  • Good IT skills and experience of use of software such as word and excel.
