We are looking for experienced, forward thinking, dynamic radiographers, committed to applying leadership, expert knowledge and evidenced based practice to develop a high quality service that delivers technically advanced treatment to our local population. Candidates will need to demonstrate skills in motivating, leading and developing others.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are willing to increase their knowledge within a busy, modern and forward thinking department.

This department comprises of eight Varian linear accelerators including 5 Truebeam (two of which are Truebeam STX) Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy, Image Guided Radiotherapy and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy are standard practice across the department.

We offer radiotherapy for paediatric patients and deliver SABR, CHART, DIBH and TBI.

Main duties of the job

  • To rotate through the clinical areas of the department under the direction of the appropriate Superintendent Radiographers, including treatment and pre-treatment areas.
  • To manage a team of staff and provide leadership and guidance to the team.
  • To act as a Lead Clinical Radiographer for that unit.
  • Co-ordinate the clinical workload of the Treatment Unit or Simulator.
  • Act as a focus for specialist clinical advice to staff, working closely with the Superintendent 3/2 Radiographers.
  • To contribute to the maintenance of ISO 9000 quality system for the department.
  • To lead/participate in the clinical research, audit and development of techniques and equipment.
  • To ensure high technical standards and patient care standards are maintained during simulation and treatment.
  • To be pro-active in the evaluation and implementation of new equipment and treatment techniques.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiographer
  • HPC Registered Therapeutic Radiographer


Desirable

  • Management qualifications/evidence of M level study
  • Be willing to undertake further training


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience across the radiotherapy patient pathway
  • Wide experience with equipment and techniques
  • Experience with student/support worker education
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to think quickly, assess situations and make appropriate decisions
  • Demonstrate the following interpersonal skills: Tolerance, sensitivity and empathy with staff and clients
  • Leaderships Skills


Desirable

  • Participation in orientation/training of new staff
  • Experience in auditing
  • Acting experience in Team Leader post
  • Experience in standard setting
