If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the frailty pathway for a Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse on a fixed-term basis to cover secondment.

Ward 3 is a 24 bedded ward specialising in frailty. As part of the frailty pathway we provide the key to safe effective patient treatment and discharge planning. We receive patients from the frailty assessment unit and provide holistic assessment of patient's needs in order to discharge them safely. Our aim is to provide seamless, high quality care with minimal disruption to existing social support. Therefore we aim to discharge patients within a 72 hour timeframe.

Our team is often described as friendly and welcoming, the whole team compromises of therapists, nurses, medical team and our fantastic HCSW team. We want to create an environment in which change is embraced and we are seeking an individual with a strong passion for delivering gold standards of care.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to ensure a high standard of care is delivered to our patients working closely with other teams, whilst having a strong focus on patient flow in line with wider operational pressures.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to lead the team with the main emphasis on keeping the patients at the centre of everything we do.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Pertinent post graduate diploma (or equivalent development/experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post grauduate diploma level study)
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Bronze IQT


Desirable

  • Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Recognised management qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
  • Able to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2015)
  • Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
  • Experience of running a ward/area/department
  • Experience of working with preregistration nursing / midwifery students
  • Experience of formal /informal teaching and of mentoring pre-registration nursing or midwifery students.
  • Understanding of wider nursing and health care related agenda
  • IT skills
  • Supervisory managment skills
  • Able to relate theory into practice through reflective skills
