An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 specialist nurse within the palliative care team. The post will is designed to provide specialist palliative care knowledge and support to patient's carers and health and social care professionals in the community and care homes
The multi disciplinary team is forever developing and is committed to providing gold standard care to patients within our community.
This is a rare opportunity to join our dynamic team working collaboratively with other professionals to deliver a demandingbut rewarding service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner whilst working as part of the Community Specialist Palliative Care Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) in partnership with other specialist palliative care providers within the South Tees Locality.
The post holder will work closely with and within the multi-organisational, multi-professional arena with statutory and non-statutory organisations including some cross boundary work within the North of England Strategic Clinical Network (NESCN), the Acute Sector, Social Care, Hospices, Care Homes and Teesside University.
The Specialist Nurse will provide high quality specialist palliative care (direct and indirect) and advice to patients, carers and professionals in line with Macmillan's four Levels of Intervention for the population of Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland.
Clinical leadership and support will be provided by the Lead Cancer Nurse, Specialist Palliative Care Consultant, Nurse Consultant and MDT lead.

- Advanced clinical, managerial and leadership skills in palliative care
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Post basic qualification in palliative care at degree level or above
- Evidence of successful completion of relevant clinical courses including independent prescribing (or willing to complete within the first year)
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Registered General Nurse, with current NMC registration

- Leadership qualification

- Relevant and up to date post registration experience at band 6 or above within palliative care
- Experience of developing and delivering teaching sessions
