We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate to join the Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC, without Learning Disabilities) service across our teams in Bolton and Trafford.
This role is suitable for applicants with experience of working within ASC/related field, but a preceptorship would be considered for the right applicant (commencing on Band 7 and working towards 8A competencies).

Main duties of the job
You will undertake a range of activities under the guidance of a qualified clinical psychologist. This includes diagnostic assessments, 1:1 clinical work (incl direct psychological therapy developed to meet the needs of autistic people), post diagnostic group work, report writing, supervision of assistant psychologists, project work and data collection.
As the job involves working within a specialist context, we are looking for someone who has experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a broad range of care environments (eg Outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings). You will have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
Other key qualities include experience gained during supervised training of working with people with autism spectrum conditions experience of teaching, training and/or supervision awareness of national policy and guidance regarding Autism Spectrum Conditions and an understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with Autism Spectrum Conditions.
Training in Autism diagnosis is funded and provided if required.

Education / Qualifications
Essential
- Doctoral level (or equivalent) qualification in Clinical Psychology/practitioner psychology equivalents (e.g. counselling,forensic,health) and evidence of continuing professional development and qualification in a psychological therapy.
Desirable
- Further training in Autism Spectrum Conditions.
- Further training in NICE recommended tools for the assessment & diagnosis of autism spectrum conditions
- Some further training in at least one psychological therapy.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience gained during supervised training of working with people with autism spectrum conditions.
